Thud. Zacharias looked up from his book, icy gaze peering over the top of its pages and wandering down to settle on a rounded seal creature that, once again, was laying on its back, looking rather disgruntled. Zach rolled his eyes and went to shut his book, making sure to fold the corner of the page first so as not to loose his place. He placed the material in his satchel before sliding down the surface of the rock he'd been perched on. Sounds of metal scraping rock made him cringe and, cursing, Zach tried to look at his bum to see if he'd managed to dislodge any buttons from his jeans. No, it was all okay. Well, he was a bit dusty, but that could easily be solved. Hands ran over Zach's body, delving into the creases of his clothes and flicking the dust they had aquired away onto the floor. That was better, now he looked presentable. Zacharias ran a hand through his chocolatey hair, fingers pausing to give the back of his scalp a quick rub. A soft sigh fell from his lips and he looked down at the squeaking heap of a Spheal who still hadn't uprighted itself. Lips parted in a small almost timid smile as Ferris gave a loud snort and allowed his flippers to flop either side of his spherical body, obviousy tired of struggling.
"Ferris, you're a fluffy sphere, can't you just roll onto your belly?" Zach mused, stooping to scoop the Spheal into his arms. Glad to be upright the little pokemon gave a soft hurr and rammed his nose into Zach's chest with such force the nineteen year old gave a surprised cough. For something so small he had quite a bit of force packed into that body of his. Zacharias, although somewhat breathless, smiled warmly down at his companion and ran his fingers under the creature's chin, tickling it gently. Ferris lifted his head obediently, exposing more of his throat which vibrated as purrs ran through it. The Spheal was enjoying himself so much he didn't notice he'd tipped too far and, before he knew it, he'd toppled onto his back, cream belly exposed to the world. Zacharias couldn't surpress a laugh. "Silly bugger," Zach chuckled, grinning. The magician's hands ran over the fuzzy stomach, rubbing in rough circles. Realising his mistake wasn't really a mistake at all, Ferris gave a cry of contentment and began to slap his fins together, a traditional way for a Spheal to show its pleasure.
Once the pokemon had calmed itself down, Zacharias made his way back onto his rocky seat, but this time with a blue and palomino ball of fur settled on his lap. Ferris' chest rose and fell gently as he snoozed, beetle black eyes hidden by stunning blue lids. Instead of returning to his book, Zach turned his attention to the grey building that was the Hoenn Pokelab, a place where trainers received the little bundles of joy known as starter pokemon. Zacharias cocked an eyebrow, grimacing as some loud-mouthed teen bundled out of the door, parading a crimson and ivory ball above his head as if it were made of gold. A smirk formed on Zach's lips as he imagined the spherical device containing absolutely nothing. Now that would shut the kid up for a while. His screeches were already tapping at Zach's nerve. The magician watched the eccentric male dance around for a few more minutes before deciding he'd had enough at which point he simply turned and looked the other way. Much more peaceful.
Ferris, awoken by the shouts, blinked sleepily and gave a confused whine. Zacahrias said nor did anything; he was too far off in the world of daydreams to notice teh Spheal stirring. Having seen the glazed look before and, having learnt its meaning a long time ago, Ferris slipped from his master's lap and tumbled down the gritted surface of the rock, rolling onto the floor. He unfurled and peered about him, pondering on what to do. The Spheal didn't particuarly mind Zacharias being distant, he could amuse hismelf easily, besides, Zach gave him a fair share of attention and spoilt him rotten so really he couldn't complain. Having spotted a butterfly, Ferris gave an excited cry and waddled forwards in an awkward fashion, head craned up so those large, ebony orbs of his were set on the airbourne insect, mesmerised by the red, yellows and orange that were splattered across its wings.

Tiger was a very excited seventeen year old indeed. The day before, he had received his first pokemon. Suprisingly, he had gotten what he wanted with a bonus. His poochyena, unlike others that would be received, was shiny. The normall grey and black fluffy ball was instead a yellow and black color with blue eyes instead of red like the normal poochyena. His Poochyena, which he gladly named Wolfie for some unknown reason, had already been in a few small battles that morning, raising it's level to seven. Tiger didn't know this, but his Wolfie was a female. He didn't really know how you could tell the difference between the genders, but oh well, maybe he would find out sooner or later.
Wolfie didn't like Pokeballs. The minute he had grabbed the pokeball from Professor Rowan's table yesterday, the shiny poochyena flew out of the sphere and looked up at Tiger all confused like before starting to sniff around his ankles and pull at his shoelaces. Since then, Tiger hasn't put the pokemon in its pokeball but instead, has carried it ever since he had gained her trust. His mother, being one of those ladies who like to put ribbons and bows on pokemon, got a cute shiny pink ribbon and tied it around Wolfies neck. Immeditatly, the poochyena started whining and scratching at her neck, wanting it off. After dinner that night, he had taken Wolfie up to his room and took the ribbon off and throwing it in his closet. He decided that the next day he would go out and catch another pokemon, bond, and train with them... but it wasn't working out like he had planned.
Dressed in dark blue skinny jeans, his black converse, and a long-sleeved shirt navy shirt that didn't say anything, he ran after his poochyena as she ran through the area, making barking and yipping noises, occasionally looking back at him and speeding up once more. Tiger stopped for a minute and tried to catch his breath, letting Wolfie think she was playing the best of games for a little while. Once the shiny poochyena had made it too far he sighed and began running again.
Wolfie! Come back! he yelled, not being able to run any farther. He noticed she stopped and was growling at something blue and sphere shaped on the ground before her. What'd you find this time... he groaned, jogging over to her and noticing the spheal on the ground and Wolfie growling at it. Then he noticed the other male momentarily before picking Wolfie up and putting her on his shoulder, where she liked to sit. Sorry about that, I just got her yesterday and i don't really know what i'm doing... he said, half smiling at the male. Oh, I'm Tiger... and this is Wolfie.. a shiny poochyena. he said, smiling then and waving. Cute Spheal by the way. he waved at the little spheal, smiling at it.

Growling broke the spell, snapped him out of his dream land, shattering the images that coursed through his head. Icy blue gaze snapped upwards violently, searching for Ferris who had wadled off, mesmerised by something bright no less. Poor thing missed the circus. Zacharias needn't have worried for little Ferris had managed to pull his bulky body only a few metres or so out of Zach's intial line of sight. Brow furrowed and eyes thinned as the magician caught sight of an irregularly coloured Poochyena that was currently facing off Ferris, large, almost tusky teeth bared and fur bristling. It seemed Ferris was a bit bewildered by the pokemon's sudden appearance though, on closer inspection, he seemed more devestated for he had lost sight of the little butterfly. No matter, he could play with thi--or perhaps not. Though somewhat good-natured, incredibly cute yet not the brightest bulb in the box, Ferris wasn't one to be messed with. Sure they were small, but Zach had already discovered those teeth and jaws of his could give quite a nasty nip and if you even got in the way of his fore-flippers when he was clapping, by golly, you'd get such a slap round the face you'd think your cheeks had been pummeled by heavy hailstone and god help you if he bounced into your nether regions. It was odd really, ferris seemed to get more dangerous the more excited he got!
Ferris growled in return, puffing out his chest to make himself appear larger. Rear flipper pounded in an irritable manner and his fur began to erect itself, bristling. For a while they stared and growled, no movement whatsoever. Then a rippe. Ferris seemed to swilling something round in his mouth and, without warning, he preopelled a little splash of water into the Poochyena's face, warning it to back off or play nice. Zacharias surpressed a smirk as he made his way over, watching the boy carefully as he picked up the pokemon now known as Wolfie and spoke to him. Snorting, Ferris tucked all his body bits in and rolled himself over to Zach in a fuzzy sphere of sapphire, white and palomino. The male stooped, laying his hands flat so the little seal rolled straight into his arms which Zach immediately folded to stop the young pokemon from rolling his way right back down again. Ferris nestled in the crook of Zach's arm and observed, blinking his deep conker eyes in curiosity.
"Strange, I thought shiny pokemon were, well, I don't know, sparkley?" he replied dryly, rubbing the area behind Ferris' miniscule ears. "She's pretty though, I'll give you that," he added. The comment was not something Zach would give on aquaintance basis, but he was entitled to speak his mind and, despite its hostility, it was a rather pretty little thing. Tiger and Wolfie, eh? Christ, it was a walking zoo. "Suppose its my turn now. I'm Zacharias and this is Ferris," he explained, jerking his arm lightly as he named the Spheal. An excited squeak broke from the little seal's lips as he was waved at, as he'd been taught to do, he waved back, waggling a flipper at Tiger and then clapping both fins together, delighted with his effort. Zach gave a small smile and tickled the pokemon under the chin. Though pleased with this reward of affection, Ferris wanted more, a treat to be precise, and he began to nibble at Zach's sleeve, giving indignent little snorts and whines. "You'll just get fat," was Zacharias' reply, but after anotehr minute of headbuts, nips and high-pitched cries, Zach gave in and produced a rounded ball of pink from his pocket. Flippers clapped noisily as Ferris stuck his stubby snout in the air, waiting. Zach gave a small sigh. How embaressing, showing his little circus tricks to a complete stranger who probably thought this was the weirdest thing he'd ever laid eyes on, but if Zach didn't do it right he'd have a grumpy Spheal for the rest of the day. Carefully he balanced the ball on the pokemon's nose and, after a few seconds, snapped his fingers. The treat was gulped down in a matter of seconds.
Whilst Ferris was munching away, Zach looked up, pbserving the boy more closely. Well, he looked like a nice guy, but looks weren't everything so Zach, being Zach, would stay wary until further notice. Soon Ferris began to struggle, squirming and wriggling around in Zach's arms, pushing roughly against his chest. Rolling his eyes the magician placed him on teh floor and, instantly, the Spheal wadled his way up to Tiger, peering up at him as he sat on his foot. "He's not the brightest I'm afraid..." Zach found hismelf saying as he watched his little friend fondly. Chirruping, Ferris bobbed a little, snuffling Tiger's jeans. He slapped a fin on the ground and gazed up at Wolfie, eyes shimmering. It seemed he had forgotten her earlier offence and wanted nothing more than to play.
